After teasing the news over the weekend, sound maestros '68 have debuted a brand new music video today for the song "Track 1," exclusively via Alternative Press Magazine, a first for the band in their young tenure together.
Directed by former Norma Jean / Underoath drummer Daniel Davison, the video takes a new approach to the standard warehouse vision in a way only Josh Scogin and '68 knows how. "Shooting this video with my long time friend and former band mate Daniel was a blast," says Scogin. "He is one of the few artists that I feel comfortable with in just trusting his ability to make something great. He told me the idea and we just ran with it and it turned out golden."
The band just wrapped up a notable run with Listener in the states and are embarking on a batch of dates in Europe with InArchives capped by two shows in Russia with Touche Amore. More U.S. dates are in the works for the end of the year. Click here for all dates.
'68 debuted at #1 on the Billboard New Artist Chart with the release of In Humor and Sadness last month selling more than 3,000 copies in its first week of release. Puregrain Audio offers, "If you've ever wondered what it would be like if The Black Keys and Every Time I Die made a love child in the washroom of a Wax Fang concert, '68 is your answer." in their 8/10 review. Alternative Press states "What's ironic about Humor is that despite Scogin's infatuation with 21st century rock 'n' roots music, the album is closer in style, decibels and straight-up attitude to Nirvana's legendary Bleach."
The album demonstrates the loud beauty of alarming simplicity. A guy bashing his drums, another dude wielding a guitar like a percussive, blunt weapon while howling into a mic somehow manages to sound bigger and brasher than the computerized bombast of every six-piece metal band. A splash of roots, a soulful yearning for mid century Americana and the fiery passion of post punk ferocity rampages over a record of earnestly forceful tracks like a runaway locomotive.
